Dear Besties šŸ’Œ BESTIES WRAPPED 2024 šŸŽ (Best Music, Fashion, Movies & Moments of the Year)

FREE EDITION ā˜ļø Our favorites lists from 2024, including the top 10 songs of the year, viral moments, fashion, movies, and more!

ā€˜

my top songs of 2024 (this was really hard)

Charli XCX - Girl, so confusing featuring Lorde: Brat summer was such a moment but this song in particular was without a doubt the most iconic song to come from 2024! The moment I heard Lordeā€™s verse I knew this was going to be something so special.

Chappell Roan - Good Luck, Babe!: This one is pure fun. The sass, the confidence, the energyā€”itā€™s everything I needed this year. Iā€™m obsessed with the fact a song so explicitly about a lesbian experience topped the charts and became mainstream!

Gracie Abrams- Risk: This song hit me hard. Itā€™s so raw and delicate, like Gracie is sitting right next to you, spilling her heart out. Itā€™s the kind of track that makes you stop and really feelā€”definitely one of her best.

Sabrina Carpenter - Espresso: I love how effortless this one feels. Itā€™s flirty, catchy, and full of little clever lines that stick with you. I didnā€™t realize how often I was humming it until it ended up on my top songs.

Gigi Perez - Sailor Song: Gigi Perez is such an exciting new voice, and this track feels so personal. "Sailor Song" is soft, dreamy, and beautifully sapphic, with lyrics that feel like a quiet love letter. Itā€™s amazing to see a rising artist bring this kind of intimacy into their musicā€”I canā€™t wait to hear more from her.

Griff - Vertigo: This song literally feels like floating in a dreamā€”one moment youā€™re soaring, the next youā€™re grounded, catching your breath. Itā€™s spacey, cinematic, and somehow so effortless, pulling you in without trying too hard.

Clairo - Sexy To Someone: Clairo just gets it. This song feels like those quiet, self-reflective moments when youā€™re overthinking everything but somehow find peace in it. Itā€™s simple but says so much.

Remi Wolf - Soup: Remiā€™s new album was such a moment this year, and "Soup" is the perfect example of why sheā€™s blowing up right now. Itā€™s funky, chaotic, and so funā€”you can just tell sheā€™s fully in her element. Watching her have this breakthrough moment has been so cool, especially since sheā€™s been putting out such bold, playful music.

Lizzy McAlpine - Older: This one feels like a hug and a punch at the same time. Lizzyā€™s voice is so comforting, but the lyrics are so honest it hurts a little. Itā€™s one of those songs I kept coming back to when I needed to sit with my feelings.

Taylor Swift - Florida!!! (featuring Florence & The Machine): This collab was such a surprise, and it works so well. Itā€™s dreamy and kind of chaotic in the best wayā€”like driving through a thunderstorm with the windows down. Definitely one of the most unique tracks Iā€™ve heard from Taylor.

all the biggest things that happened online in 2024

  1. When MUNA dubbed ATG ā€˜Lesbopaloozaā€™ - Weā€™ll never forget when MUNA came on stage in Lesbopalooza merch with LESBOPALOOZA pictured on the festival big screen. Truly iconic.

  2. The Asylum Trend -  You wouldnā€™t last an hour in the asylum where they raised meā€¦ (or this oneā€¦) (or this one)

  3. Charli XCX announces Girl, so confusing remix with Lorde - This snippet with Lordeā€™s lyrics as a text rocked the world instantly. Hereā€™s Charli DJā€™ing the song for first time ever

  4. Chappell Roan singing Pink Pony Club in the car with her parents - Ok this is brand new but automatically makes the best of the year list for being so precious šŸ˜

  5. THE KISS HEARD ROUND THE WORLD! ReneĆ© Rapp and Towa Bird have only kissed on stage at two festivals - and they BOTH happen to be All Things Go šŸ˜™

  6. Janelle Monaeā€™s outfit at ATG NYC - I meanā€¦ kinda broke the internet besties

  7. I Hate Gay Halloween - We loved this internet/holiday trend. Like this Chappell Roan costume, Challengers movie costume, Lana Del Rey & Marina, Phoebe Bridgers in Silk Chiffon video, Lucy and Julien in Brokeback Mountain

moments in fashion this year that shaped our 2024

the best new movies and tv shows from the year

  1. Challengers: Challengers was iconicā€”like, itā€™s the movie that had everyone talking and shifting the conversation in pop culture this year. This film marked a moment in the cultural zeitgeist, combining sports, romance, and rivalry in a way that feels so fresh and so electric. Luca Guadagnino, a favorite director of mine (I love Call Me by Your Name), once again captures complex emotions with his signature style, weaving beauty into every single frame. Itā€™s a film that feels timeless, even though itā€™s SO 2024, and I already know it will be referenced for years to come.

  2. I Saw The TV Glow: This film hits differently. Itā€™s eerie and surreal, but beneath all the unsettling visuals is such a raw and resonant exploration of identity. The way it captures the feeling of being transā€”of living between worlds, of finding yourself in the static and the noiseā€”is unlike anything Iā€™ve ever seen. Justice Smith and Brigette Lundy-Paine bring so much heart to their performances, and the story feels like a love letter to queer and trans resilience. Itā€™s not just a movie; itā€™s a mirror, and its impact on the trans community will stick around for a long time.

  3. All Of Us Strangers: Wow. This film broke my heart in the most beautiful way. Itā€™s so raw and tender, exploring grief, love, and connection in a way that feels incredibly personal. Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal have such an undeniable chemistry that you canā€™t help but feel everything theyā€™re going through. Itā€™s one of those movies where you donā€™t just watch itā€”you feel it. Definitely my favorite of the year for how deeply it resonated with me.

What does life look like for you right now?

Ins and outs for this month? šŸ‘‘šŸ“…šŸ«¶

In: double stuf oreos, facebook marketplace, getting what you want, natural hair, not going to work, live music, giant glass jars, running into people from your past on the street

Out: old clothes, small wine glasses, being neighborly (doesnā€™t work), decaf americanos, friends with benefits (isnā€™t as fun as u thought), books about women who are sad about men

Whatā€™s your favorite hobby right now? Whatā€™s a hobby you want to get into this year?šŸ›¹šŸ§˜ā€ā™€ļøšŸ“·

I have gotten super into crocheting, Iā€™m in the middle of making a quilt!!! Last year I made hats for all of my friends and they were so warm and cute. Iā€™m still super in beginning stages of the quilt because Iā€™ve been so busy!!! But now that the cold months are coming back Iā€™m gonna be going crazy.

Fashion pieces youā€™re interested in lately? šŸ‘œšŸ‘”šŸ§„

I love a thin scarfā€¦. Iā€™ve been loving a tight long sleeve as well with low waisted pantsā€¦ just kind of classic comfy construction worker chicā€¦.

Piece of media thatā€™s influenced you šŸŽ¼šŸ–¼ļøšŸŽ¬

One time I wrote a song after I watched an episode of The Legend Of Korra :)

My favorite book Iā€™ve ever read is a biography about Courtney Love called ā€œCourtney Love: The Real Story.ā€ I absolutely loved getting to read about her true experiences as a young girl and woman in music, how her music validates her rage and disappointment in the world around her, and how her experiences have shaped her into such a complicated figure. I also am such a huge fan of her music and lyrics, and I think I try to emulate how she writes about her experiences so honestly and how she uses dark humor to connect with her listeners.

Any interesting/silly/fun recent tour anecdotes? šŸŽ†šŸ¤ŖšŸ™ˆ

When we went to Philly in March I wanted to go to the Italian Market like they do in Itā€™s Always Sunny In Philadelphia and haggle with one of the merchants, so I went to this shop and found these amazing candlesticks and they were going for $80 and I brought them down to $20. Score <3

Describe your recent work with a color/mood/seasonšŸ‚šŸŒØļøšŸŒ¼

I think my album ā€œShowtimeā€ is definitely a fall album. I recorded it with my band last October in Vermont, and it came out this October, so I feel like every song really resonates with colorful foliage, sniffling, soccer breaks, hot toddies, and video games (Mario Kart)

Is there an artist youā€™ve seen live that blew you away? šŸŖ•šŸŽ«šŸŽ¤

Mitski was the most inspirational performance Iā€™ve ever seen. Her music is like a drug to me. Getting to hear her angelic voice live was one thing, but getting to see the way she incorporates movement into her set was so riveting.

What are you listening to right now?šŸŽ§šŸ“»šŸ’æ

My roommate put me on to Wishy, this amazing shoegaze band that Iā€™ve fallen in love with. Iā€™m seeing them tonight in New York!

I also have been on such a jazz kick, I think itā€™s the fall weather in Brooklyn but I canā€™t stop listening to Sonny Rollins and Count Basie.

What song/lyric are you most proud of? šŸ““šŸŖžšŸ’Œ

Iā€™m the most proud of ā€œShow You Something,ā€ because it came out exactly as I had hoped it would. It was like I had this idea for a song and then I snapped my fingers and Jack helped me make it real. It encapsulates every feeling I wanted it to, even as I listen to it 2 years later.

But LYRICALLY my song ā€œalrightā€ is probably the coolest to me.

ā€œGiving my hair something to sip on/taking care has limits to trip onā€

ā€œYank my hands im done with faking/Iā€™m reading but my bodyā€™s achingā€

Those were the hardest lines to come up with but Iā€™m so happy with how they came out!

Whatā€™s a lyric you think about often?šŸ“ƒšŸ¹šŸ’

ā€œThereā€™s only love, thereā€™s only moving through and trying your best, sometimes itā€™s not enough, who gives a fuck? All of this will endā€ ā€“ ā€œAll of This Will Endā€ by Indigo De Souza

Whatā€™s your dream collab?šŸ«‚šŸ”®šŸ«§

The Beths :ā€™) I love them so much. To go on tour with them would be an absolute dream.
