ā
my top songs of 2024 (this was really hard)
Charli XCX - Girl, so confusing featuring Lorde: Brat summer was such a moment but this song in particular was without a doubt the most iconic song to come from 2024! The moment I heard Lordeās verse I knew this was going to be something so special.
Chappell Roan - Good Luck, Babe!: This one is pure fun. The sass, the confidence, the energyāitās everything I needed this year. Iām obsessed with the fact a song so explicitly about a lesbian experience topped the charts and became mainstream!
Gracie Abrams- Risk: This song hit me hard. Itās so raw and delicate, like Gracie is sitting right next to you, spilling her heart out. Itās the kind of track that makes you stop and really feelādefinitely one of her best.
Sabrina Carpenter - Espresso: I love how effortless this one feels. Itās flirty, catchy, and full of little clever lines that stick with you. I didnāt realize how often I was humming it until it ended up on my top songs.
Gigi Perez - Sailor Song: Gigi Perez is such an exciting new voice, and this track feels so personal. "Sailor Song" is soft, dreamy, and beautifully sapphic, with lyrics that feel like a quiet love letter. Itās amazing to see a rising artist bring this kind of intimacy into their musicāI canāt wait to hear more from her.
Griff - Vertigo: This song literally feels like floating in a dreamāone moment youāre soaring, the next youāre grounded, catching your breath. Itās spacey, cinematic, and somehow so effortless, pulling you in without trying too hard.
Clairo - Sexy To Someone: Clairo just gets it. This song feels like those quiet, self-reflective moments when youāre overthinking everything but somehow find peace in it. Itās simple but says so much.
Remi Wolf - Soup: Remiās new album was such a moment this year, and "Soup" is the perfect example of why sheās blowing up right now. Itās funky, chaotic, and so funāyou can just tell sheās fully in her element. Watching her have this breakthrough moment has been so cool, especially since sheās been putting out such bold, playful music.
Lizzy McAlpine - Older: This one feels like a hug and a punch at the same time. Lizzyās voice is so comforting, but the lyrics are so honest it hurts a little. Itās one of those songs I kept coming back to when I needed to sit with my feelings.
Taylor Swift - Florida!!! (featuring Florence & The Machine): This collab was such a surprise, and it works so well. Itās dreamy and kind of chaotic in the best wayālike driving through a thunderstorm with the windows down. Definitely one of the most unique tracks Iāve heard from Taylor.

The Asylum Trend - You wouldnāt last an hour in the asylum where they raised meā¦ (or this oneā¦) (or this one)
Charli XCX announces Girl, so confusing remix with Lorde - This snippet with Lordeās lyrics as a text rocked the world instantly. Hereās Charli DJāing the song for first time ever
Chappell Roan singing Pink Pony Club in the car with her parents - Ok this is brand new but automatically makes the best of the year list for being so precious š

the best new movies and tv shows from the year
Challengers: Challengers was iconicālike, itās the movie that had everyone talking and shifting the conversation in pop culture this year. This film marked a moment in the cultural zeitgeist, combining sports, romance, and rivalry in a way that feels so fresh and so electric. Luca Guadagnino, a favorite director of mine (I love Call Me by Your Name), once again captures complex emotions with his signature style, weaving beauty into every single frame. Itās a film that feels timeless, even though itās SO 2024, and I already know it will be referenced for years to come.
I Saw The TV Glow: This film hits differently. Itās eerie and surreal, but beneath all the unsettling visuals is such a raw and resonant exploration of identity. The way it captures the feeling of being transāof living between worlds, of finding yourself in the static and the noiseāis unlike anything Iāve ever seen. Justice Smith and Brigette Lundy-Paine bring so much heart to their performances, and the story feels like a love letter to queer and trans resilience. Itās not just a movie; itās a mirror, and its impact on the trans community will stick around for a long time.
All Of Us Strangers: Wow. This film broke my heart in the most beautiful way. Itās so raw and tender, exploring grief, love, and connection in a way that feels incredibly personal. Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal have such an undeniable chemistry that you canāt help but feel everything theyāre going through. Itās one of those movies where you donāt just watch itāyou feel it. Definitely my favorite of the year for how deeply it resonated with me.

Whatās your favorite hobby right now? Whatās a hobby you want to get into this year?š¹š§āāļøš·
I have gotten super into crocheting, Iām in the middle of making a quilt!!! Last year I made hats for all of my friends and they were so warm and cute. Iām still super in beginning stages of the quilt because Iāve been so busy!!! But now that the cold months are coming back Iām gonna be going crazy.
Fashion pieces youāre interested in lately? šš”š§„
I love a thin scarfā¦. Iāve been loving a tight long sleeve as well with low waisted pantsā¦ just kind of classic comfy construction worker chicā¦.
Piece of media thatās influenced you š¼š¼ļøš¬
One time I wrote a song after I watched an episode of The Legend Of Korra :)
My favorite book Iāve ever read is a biography about Courtney Love called āCourtney Love: The Real Story.ā I absolutely loved getting to read about her true experiences as a young girl and woman in music, how her music validates her rage and disappointment in the world around her, and how her experiences have shaped her into such a complicated figure. I also am such a huge fan of her music and lyrics, and I think I try to emulate how she writes about her experiences so honestly and how she uses dark humor to connect with her listeners.
Any interesting/silly/fun recent tour anecdotes? šš¤Ŗš
When we went to Philly in March I wanted to go to the Italian Market like they do in Itās Always Sunny In Philadelphia and haggle with one of the merchants, so I went to this shop and found these amazing candlesticks and they were going for $80 and I brought them down to $20. Score <3
Describe your recent work with a color/mood/seasonššØļøš¼
I think my album āShowtimeā is definitely a fall album. I recorded it with my band last October in Vermont, and it came out this October, so I feel like every song really resonates with colorful foliage, sniffling, soccer breaks, hot toddies, and video games (Mario Kart)
Is there an artist youāve seen live that blew you away? šŖš«š¤
Mitski was the most inspirational performance Iāve ever seen. Her music is like a drug to me. Getting to hear her angelic voice live was one thing, but getting to see the way she incorporates movement into her set was so riveting.
What are you listening to right now?š§š»šæ
My roommate put me on to Wishy, this amazing shoegaze band that Iāve fallen in love with. Iām seeing them tonight in New York!
I also have been on such a jazz kick, I think itās the fall weather in Brooklyn but I canāt stop listening to Sonny Rollins and Count Basie.
What song/lyric are you most proud of? ššŖš
Iām the most proud of āShow You Something,ā because it came out exactly as I had hoped it would. It was like I had this idea for a song and then I snapped my fingers and Jack helped me make it real. It encapsulates every feeling I wanted it to, even as I listen to it 2 years later.
But LYRICALLY my song āalrightā is probably the coolest to me.
āGiving my hair something to sip on/taking care has limits to trip onā
āYank my hands im done with faking/Iām reading but my bodyās achingā
Those were the hardest lines to come up with but Iām so happy with how they came out!
Whatās a lyric you think about often?šš¹š
āThereās only love, thereās only moving through and trying your best, sometimes itās not enough, who gives a fuck? All of this will endā ā āAll of This Will Endā by Indigo De Souza
Whatās your dream collab?š«š®š«§
The Beths :ā) I love them so much. To go on tour with them would be an absolute dream.
