a discovery playlist featuring my recent top 10 new music releases

  1. Alice Phoebe Lou- Better: Aliceā€™s music makes me feel so light and dreamy that I forget the lyrics are actually so sad. I love the storytelling in this song.

  2. Junior Varsity- Give My Heart: If youā€™re looking for some upbeat indie pop, definitely give their new EP a listenā€¦ I especially love Give My Heartā€” it feels reminiscent Grouplove, who I was obsessed with in high school

  3. Alix Page- Break The Band Up: One of my favorite rising artists, I love her emotive melodies paired with ā€œI could have loved you, but I just got tired of itā€

all the biggest things that happened online this week

things that iā€™ve been super into lately that i need to share with you guys

  1. If youā€™re looking for high quality sustainable basics to splurge on, might I suggest Colorful Standard? I am obsessed with their pieces and the colors they come in and finally bit the bullet and treated myself and ā€¦ Iā€™ve never been more excited about a pair of sock. I love anything in the color Pacific Blue and might have to buy a hoodie next ā€¦

  2. During harder times, music can be a lifeline. If youā€™ve been struggling this past week due to everything going on, hereā€™s a playlist that always helps calm me down. If what youā€™re feeling is rage, I have a list for that too

  3. With the holidays coming up, its never too early for niche holiday gift guides!! Hereā€™s one for hot weirdos, and another with unique gift ideas

new movies and tv shows on my radar right now

  1. I recently watched the A24 coming of age film Janet Planet and havenā€™t been able to think about anything else since. Director Annie Baker has described it as about being 11 years old and wanting to kill your momā€™s boyfriend, but itā€™s also about being young and lonely and a little weird, motherhood and independence, how the air feels and sounds in August, and reverence of the quiet and mundane. If you like Ladybird, Aftersun, or any movie where thereā€™s no plot but everything happens, youā€™ll love this.

  2. Zendaya and Tom Holland have been cast in Christopher Nolanā€™s upcoming movie which is pretty adorable

  3. Stranger Things Season 5 has been announced for release in 2025! Iā€™ve seen so many people talk about how theyā€™ve grown up which this show

BOTW CECE COAKLEY

Cece Coakley is a Nashville-based indie singer-songwriter known for her heartfelt storytelling and laid-back, folk-infused sound. With recent releases like "Listerine" and "ClichƩ," she continues to captivate listeners with raw, introspective lyrics that explore themes of young love, self-discovery, and personal growth.

What does life look like for you right now?

Iā€™ve been on tour for the past few weeks, so life has looked a little different every day! Lots of car time, but also you get to see all the fun random parts of America on the road (like this random Snoopy inflatable in Boise, Idaho).

Ins and outs for this month? šŸ‘‘šŸ“…šŸ«¶

Ins: Crossword puzzles, Shirley temples, a heating pad, & journaling everyday

Out: Buying books (Iā€™m team library) & buying clothes that donā€™t fit

Whatā€™s your favorite hobby right now? Whatā€™s a hobby you want to get into this year?šŸ›¹šŸ§˜ā€ā™€ļøšŸ“·

This year I got big into running and ran my first half marathon! I would love to get back into a running phase and keep training for more races! In the meantime Iā€™ve been loving reading books on tour, & just started Sally Rooneyā€™s ā€œIntermezzoā€.

Fashion pieces youā€™re interested in lately? šŸ‘œšŸ‘”šŸ§„

I have been renting clothes for tour & have found a lot of cool pieces through that, my favorite so far is this Celia B dress I wore for our Chicago show.

Piece of media thatā€™s influenced you šŸŽ¼šŸ–¼ļøšŸŽ¬

I am an avid podcast listener, & especially love listening to the ā€œSmartlessā€ podcast by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, & Will Arnett. I find myself really inspired listening to them interview some of my favorite artists & comedians, & learn a lot of advice from their stories I can apply to my process & journey as an artist!

Any interesting/silly/fun recent tour anecdotes?

My favorite stories from tour are always after the longest drives or days where weā€™ve driven each other to delirium. I feel like thatā€™s when the funniest & best things happen. A special one to me was after a 13 hour drive the band and I snuck into the hot tub of our hotel at midnight and got into full spy mode to get there. We also got to go to Cannon Beach outside of Portland. Itā€™s nice to have those little rewards after driving nonstop all day.

Describe your recent work with a color/mood/season

My recent work is very influenced by color, & each song feels like it has its own color! Iā€™d say this batch of songs feels very summer into fall! To me all these songs feel like 65 degree days out by a bonfire.

Is there an artist youā€™ve seen live that blew you away?

I saw Billie Marten play in Nashville & she is such a force. It is always so satisfying when your favorite artists are just as good live!

What are you listening to right now?

Right now Iā€™ve been listening to the new Dora Jar album a bunch & all of Angie McMahonā€™s music. Both of them are so talented and inspiring.

What song/lyric are you most proud of?

I am most proud of the lyric in my song ā€œHappy Adjacentā€ that says ā€œWhen my life starts I wonā€™t be lateā€. That whole song has always served as a reminder that Iā€™m on time to my life, which is a nice reminder I hope other people can also benefit from.

Top 4 favorite films?

My top 4 films are ā€œSheā€™s the Manā€, ā€œSilence of the Lambsā€, ā€œCrazy Stupid Loveā€, & ā€œHairsprayā€. A very random combo but trust the vision.

Whatā€™s a lyric you think about often?

A lyric I think about often is most of the song ā€œTime in a Bottleā€ by Jim Croce. ā€œBut there never seems to be enough time to do the things you wanna do once you find em. Iā€™ve looked around enough to know youā€™re the one I wanna go through time with.ā€ If that isnā€™t the biggest gut punch of love I donā€™t know what is. Perfect writing.

Whatā€™s your dream collab?

My dream collab is with Andy Shauf. His writing is so inspiring, & I would love to know what itā€™s like to get inside his brain.
