a discovery playlist featuring my recent top 10 new music releases

  1. Annie Dirusso, Ruston Kelly- Wearing Pants Again: Annie DiRusso is THE moment right now and this collab is SO good. Such an iconic song— the lyrics are insane and so real (taken right from their journals)

  2. Searows- calico: new Searows EP has me crying. This was only two additional songs but they both were such hard hitters. Calico is beautifully written and sounds so bittersweet

  3. Charlie Hickey- Cash In: Charlie has been an absolute favorite of mine for awhile now… any song he puts out becomes an instant favorite. I’ve been waiting for new music from him for what feels like ages now and I was not disappointed.

all the biggest things that happened online this week

  2. Another big movie recently is Gladiator! Recently it was disclosed that this star was initially considered to play Paul Mescals role which has me dying lol

  3. I had no idea they’re making a live-action Lilo and Stitch but the first movie poster is here and I'm actually super excited about it? This movie was big part of my childhood & I'm excited to relive that

What’s your favorite hobby right now? What’s a hobby you want to get into this year?🛹🧘‍♀️📷

drawing! Id love to get into sculpture stuff next year.

Fashion pieces you’re interested in lately? 👜👡🧥

I have 5 t shirts, 3 long sleeves, and 4 pairs of jeans!

Piece of media that’s influenced you 🎼🖼️🎬

Been on a Harmony Korine movie kick since October. Its like the guy goes “lets throw a bunch of nuns out of a plane” and then builds a film around that. Super fun to watch, it always feels accidentally smart.

Any interesting/silly/fun recent tour anecdotes?

November of last year I played Salt Lake City opening up for Jeremy Zucker and a kid threw me a pair of sunglasses and I caught them and put them on and it was awesome. He came to the merch table after the show and was like “my phone numbers on the side of them, text me!”, and I was like “lmfao how old are you” and he was like “17” and so I obviously didnt text him, but I remembered him and one day he DM’d me saying something along the lines of “Hey Jake, not sure if you remember me, but I am about to leave for my mormon mission and I’m putting out an album, I’d love for you to hear it”. It is my favorite album ever. It’s all instrumental except for one song, and to this day, its the only album that has ever made me cry. He is currently in Guatemala I think. Its called ‘dearly’. I will link it below if they let me do that.

Describe your recent work with a color/mood/season

  • Recent release: trying to sleep with the spins.

  • Unreleased: the morning after that, except your friends are over so you still have that ‘morning after’ heart rate thing happening but someones like “you were super normal last night, lets get breakfast!”.

Is there an artist you’ve seen live that blew you away?

I saw Ryan Beatty at a lollapalooza after show and I think that when I die I will wake up back in that room.

What are you listening to right now?

Maximus Madsen’s ‘dearly’ is playing as I write this lol. At this point I can’t be in an airport without it. I have also been listening to Tom Waits’ ‘The Early Years Vol. 2’ at least twice a week. Also the new Katie Gavin record. There are nights where I cannot sleep until I have listened to ‘Sketches’. What song/lyric are you most proud of?

This song I wrote called ‘twice’. It will come out next year.

What’s a lyric you think about often?

“Your world was collapsing, you couldn’t have stopped it, your jokes became armor, your pain became gossip.” From Christian Lee Hutson and (sorry doing 2) “Did you know that you are the guardian of a part of my life that I had long forgotten” by Frog

What’s your dream collab?

Phoebe Bridgers

Top 4 favorite films?

‘Secret Life of Walter Mitty’, A24’s ‘Close', ‘World’s Greatest Dad’, and I have seen ‘My Old Ass’ like 30 times since it hit amazon prime.
